Saxophonist, pianist, and bandleader based in New York City. Recording artist, composer, and faculty at the New York Jazz Academy.

David Engelhard is a saxophonist, pianist, and bandleader based in New York City. He has performed and toured with the Zac Brown Band — including the Live at the Fabulous Fox Theater DVD and the Country Music Awards alongside Gregg Allman and Tom Scott — and has shared the stage with John Mayer and Scott Weiland. As a pianist, he has accompanied Julia Roome of The Voice and NYC Jazz Vocalist, Miss Bettie Rouge. In NYC, he leads bands at venues including the Triad Theater and Joe's Pub.

Originally from Atlanta, David holds a Master's in Jazz Performance from Queens College, where he studied with Antonio Hart and privately with Ari Hoenig, David Sanchez, David Binney, Donny McCaslin, and Aaron Goldberg. As a composer, his work spans solo saxophone pieces, electronic and experimental music, and interdisciplinary collaborations — with works presented at La MaMa Theater and a commemorative piece for Chinua Achebe performed at the United Nations.

David is on faculty at the New York Jazz Academy, where he teaches jazz improvisation. Online lessons, courses, and video analysis live at davidknows.co
